Taylor Patrice is a human interest writer living a semi-vagabond lifestyle.

Who needs candles when you can have cheese on a stick? Kicking off 28 with a full glass, a full belly, and an even fuller heart. Birthdays, and maybe this sounds ridiculous, generally make me sad. I’m genuinely so in love with my life, that one lifetime doesn’t feel like enough time to love my husband, or my people, or the world around me, so as much as I’m a celebratory person, I don’t always love the reminder that I’m getting older. It’s selfish to want so much time, I know. But the older I get and the more I do, the more grateful I am that aging means a long life, and the older I get the more I realize not everyone gets that blessing. So this year I’m nothing but intensely grateful. I’m grateful for another trip around the sun. I am grateful for more adventures, not merely for the opportunity to eat and drink, but the chance to soak in people and culture and all the life lessons embracing others has to offer, as a wiser version of myself. I’m excited to meet who I am going to grow into this year. And I’m excited to take this journey with you. Thanks for being a part of my story. Cheers to another great year together ✨

Celebrated my next year around the sun a little early by waking up in a nearly 1000 year old castle this morning, and exploring Rothenburg during the annual wine festival. •

Sunday’s are for cathedral appreciation, and it’s super cool I live just down the street from this one. •

I made out with my husband in the Library of Congress, was nearly brought to tears in the women’s suffrage hall, and was deeply humbled at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. It’s been an emotionally dynamic day. You should have these days too. •
