For a long time I thought I had to be either/or. Either a personal blogger or an intellectual blogger. Either emotionally engaged with readers, or totally cerebral. Either into food and travel and all things lifestyle, or a truly serious writer dedicated to only strong and challenging content. Statistics show that focus sells better.
Either/Or was never a complete picture. I have a deeper passion for policy because of what I have learned from the people and places I have lived and traveled. I approach problems intellectually because I want to understand and measurably impact that which I feel when emotionally engaged with the world around me. I am both the head and the heart.
Nuance gives life to all works of art, people included. Where I am traveling and what I am eating and reading is equally part of my life’s love story. It is these things, alongside my personal stories, the good, the bad, and the downright absurd, that give life and color and texture to my deeply held policy passions. It is both the head and the heart that make a life beautiful.
Welcome to the part of the blog where I get to tell you my story, a little more personally, colored by wine and cheese and suitcases and the occasional ‘F’ Bomb. It’s the heart to my head.
