Taylor Patrice

I’m Taylor, the writer behind Policy Out Loud. Before this platform was a policy blog, it was home to my personal story for about five years.

My platform has changed. The URL has changed. My phone number and personal address has changed (several times). My favorite food has changed. My political party affiliation has changed.

My story, and the position from which I tell it changes…a lot. And it is these changing vantage points that has made me so passionate about policy – so much so, that I went into writing and talking about policy full-time.

My old content is still up on the site, because the pieces are an important part of the evolution that brought me to where the blog is today. They tell the stories of the times I learned about my own responsibilities and privileges, about the times I learned when systems were broken and the people in charge didn’t know what to do, about my own struggle for purpose, about the times I learned my own flaws, and the moments when my voice became strong. It is my hope that as I lean more into policy blogging, from time to time I can still meet my longest and most faithful readers here, over a cup of coffee and personal story. Nuance gives power to all works of art, people included, and my personal journey remains an important part of my deeply held policy passions and positions. Thank you for growing with me.

Welcome to the part of the blog where I get to tell you my story, a little more personally, colored by wine and suitcases and the occasional ‘F’ Bomb. It’s the heart to my head. It is my policy positions personified. If you love the personal content, I hope you stick around and sign up for emails. Every bi-weekly email includes a very real look into my day to day life.
